And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. Jeremiah 3:15
There’s just no place like Leesville Road Baptist Church! From the moment you walk through the doors you will be treated like family. We believe that God is at work in this world pursuing people from every tribe, nation, language, and people group (Rev 7:9). So, we make it a high priority to express to each guest and member alike that you are Welcomed and Wanted right Here. We believe God has a plan to Rescue and Redeem a people for His Glory and we gratefully embrace our little role in His larger plan until “…The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14).
I was born and raised deep in the heart of Mississippi where I grew up hunting, fishing, planting peas, harvesting potatoes, and shucking corn. I was blessed to be taught how to work hard. I learned the truth about Jesus and received Him as my Savior at an early age. God is so good!
My high school sweetheart April Neal and I married in 1997 and we now have three amazing, bright, funny, and beautiful teenage children together: Dakota, Sydneigh, and Cannon. I can honestly say that God has walked with us through some great times and carried us through some dark valleys. He has blessed and enriched our lives through so many experiences and special people. As far as jobs go, before God called us to full-time ministry, I had been employed on an offshore oil rig, turned wrenches as an automotive mechanic, and enjoyed several different machinist job shop positions. In 2006, God began working on my heart concerning full-time gospel ministry, but it was only after a traumatic work-related accident that took my left arm and put me in a wheel chair for three months that I was willing to give my unqualified Yes to the Almighty. Yet through even this, I have learned that when you need God the most, He will surely not fail you. In your greatest hour of need, He will not abandon you (Hebrews 13:5).
Since then, I have served two churches in MS: New Sight Baptist in Brookhaven as youth pastor and then Bethel Baptist in Bogue Chitto as pastor. The summer of 2014 we moved our little family to Wake Forest so I could complete a Masters of Divinity degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. This was truly a wonderful time of growing in the Lord and I am extremely grateful for the numerous and godly professors who shared their knowledge and wisdom with me along the way. One thing led to another, and God once again opened up an amazing opportunity to serve as the pastor of a local church, Leesville Road Baptist Church. We have been here with this Jesus loving community of believers now since the spring of 2015, and every day is sweeter than the last. 😊
We’ve had the privilege to see God’s handiwork in numerous ways since coming in 2015. We’ve seen God heal hearts, save souls, grow disciples, fire up worship, and engage with His people on Mission to the hurting and the vulnerable. Here at LRBC, we believe along with Henry Blackaby that every Church is called to Glorify God, Make Disciples, and Bless their Communities in the spirit of Acts 2:42-47. Would you prayerfully consider joining us here at LRBC as we move forward as a Community of Christ followers on Mission for the Glory of God? We believe the Whole Bible, Serve the Only Risen King, Move Forward as a Functional Team, and Take His Command to Love God and Neighbor Seriously as we Pursue the Great CO-MISSION Faithfully. Please accept our Hope-filled and Anticipating invitation to join us for Worship one Sunday soon!!!
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Damon Williamson
