LRBC on Mission

Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. (Matthew 25:40 ESV)

Christians are called to witness for God and make disciples of Christ everywhere (Matthew 28:19). Leesville Road Baptist Church knows that often we can best witness to people by helping them in times of need. Giving to the poor, caring for those who suffer, or offering a helping hand is sometimes the best way to show God’s love in a tangible way. Like the apostles, we must obey the command to go forth and lead others to Jesus. By sharing His love with our hands and feet, we can serve and enrich our extended community, strengthening our witness.

Hurricane Relief

Unfortunately, hurricanes are a part of life in North Carolina, devastating town, country, and farmland. LRBC responded to Hurricane Florence through several partnership ventures: with our local Yates Baptist Association, NC Baptists on Mission, and even with our friends in Mississippi. All this was done because of the love of Christ by donating canned food, hygiene items, baby products, and cleaning supplies. Regarding our friends in MS: We partnered with the Lincoln Baptist Association in Brookhaven, MS, which collected a trailer full of relief items and delivered them as far as Greenville, SC. LRBC Church members intercepted the load and transported the collected items east to Red Springs, NC, where Southern Baptists then distributed them to those who were in the greatest need.

On another trip, church members helped NC Baptists on Mission with the disaster relief effort. We provided man-power, woman-power, and child-power to remove and replace damaged material and perform general clean-up. Our children were awesome!

From one of the participants: “We had a group aging from 5 years old to 85 years old! God can use you at any age!! God blessed us with a beautiful day and it was a blessing to serve!”

Durham Rescue Mission

Happy disciples at the mission.

The Durham Rescue Mission hosts an annual Easter event for the needy in our community. This event is more than the colorful Easter baskets that are given to the children. Its mission of restoring families and giving hope plays out through donations, fun and games, a delicious meal, and a celebration of the gospel. LRBC is happy to join the excitement where we serve food, hand out groceries and clothing, enjoy the games, and above all, interact with the wonderful people in our community and share the love of God.

Other Missions We Support

LRBC celebrates every opportunity to help with missions and ministries. We are always on mission, as the love of Jesus impacts His church on a daily basis. In addition to the mission activity presented on this page, see our Photo Gallery page for more pictures.

LRBC partnered with Antioch Baptist church to do ministry and provide Thanksgiving baskets.

Team Kauai

We are excited to support this group on mission in the lush Hawaiian island of Kauai. Hawaii is considered a land of paradise, but the vast majority of people living there do not know about the true Paradise promised by Jesus. Most of the people don’t know Jesus at all!

Hawaii’s indigenous religion centers on many deities along with animistic and naturalistic spirits. Over the years, various other religions have been introduced to the islands. Clearly the Hawaiian people have a need for the true Gospel, a need to become a new creation in our Lord Jesus Christ! Responding to this need, Team Kauai missionaries have left the safety and comfort of their homes to bring Christ to the Hawaiian people, sharing the power of His life, death, and resurrection.

Human Coalition

Our pastor’s daughter, Sydneigh Williamson, has a big heart for preborn infants everywhere. Sydneigh is leading an effort to help the most helpless among us, many of whom are killed in abortion clinics, those infants with no voice and increasingly no right to exist. At LRBC, we affirm that each preborn baby is a precious and unique living human being from the moment of conception.

Human Coalition is an organization whose mission is to “protect vulnerable pregnant women, rescue preborn children from abortion, and restore our culture to one that values life.” We fully support the Human Coalition in accordance with the biblical teaching that God “created man in his own image” (Genesis 1:27). The image of God is what makes us human. We reflect an eternal God who knew us before time began and called us into being to fulfill a specific purpose! God’s divine will infuses us with His design before we are born: “You knitted me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).

We eagerly engage with this mission with a goal of not just making abortion illegal, but making it unthinkable!

Baptist Children’s Homes

Food Roundup collection

Baptist Children’s Homes (BCH) of North Carolina, Inc., headquartered in Thomasville, NC, provides a vast network of homes, care facilities, and camps for children and families. The organization provides programs and services for children of all ages, teen mothers, single mothers and their children, developmentally disabled adults, and frail and aging adults. Their care and outreach ministries are the largest in the area. LRBC is honored to participate in the annual Food Roundup collection, helping BCH provide safety, care, and food to neglected and needy children.

Yates Baptist Association Food Pantry

Yates Baptist Association operates an emergency food pantry to feed those who suffer hardship. Every year, LRBC helps to fill the pantry (and tummies) with much-needed wholesome, tasty food items.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering

Named for the trailblazing missionary, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering supports thousands of missionaries across the United States and Canada. One hundred percent of this offering goes directly to those missions. Throughout her life, Annie combined humility, self-sacrifice, and boldness in the name of Christ to bring His message of love and comfort to under-served, impoverished people wherever she could. LRBC is honored to support this mission.

Yates Baptist Association Toy Store

Every year at Christmas time, LRBC contributes to the Yates Baptist Association toy store, which offers a wide range of Christmas toys and gifts at highly reduced prices to qualifying low-income parents. The minimized prices enable parents to give their children nice toys while maintaining the dignity that comes with providing for their family. Counselors share the gospel with all who shop, and families receive Bibles and other materials.

Giving to this cause is truly a joyful experience for our church as we imagine the bright smiles of the children and teens who receive the gifts, as well as the joy experienced by their parents.

Pregnancy Support Services

We are privileged to partner with Pregnancy Support Services located in Chapel Hill, NC, with ministries stretching into Durham and beyond. This Christian non-profit and pro-life organization specializes in giving care, counseling, support, education, and aid to women and youth who are navigating very difficult choices. Pregnancy Support Services also provides first-trimester ultrasounds and seeks to counsel clients in the areas of parenting and adoption.

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

The Lottie Moon Christmas offering helps International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries spread the gospel to unreached peoples around the world. LRBC joyfully contributes to this outreach that guides people everywhere to the Lord.
